[Finished] Redemption (BTS - Mafia AU)
  • Namjoon
  • *Three days later*
  • ‘I just don’t know if telling them was the right thing to do,’ I said with a sigh as I puffed out the pillow, hoping to make it more comfortable.
  • ‘I think you did the right thing yeobo. Yeonjun has spent half his life searching for her. How could we keep it a secret from him?’ she asked.
  • I recalled when Yeonjun came to us, a scrawny little kid, begging us to help us find his sister. I remembered the way his eyes lit up when I told him we had found her. I could not help but recall the determination in his voice as I warned him of the possible outcomes.
  • ‘I know. I owed it to the kid but I don’t know if she was ready for that. I can’t shake off the look on her face when I asked her if she was Haneul or when I told her about her brother being part of Bangtan,’ I said as we both got into the bed. 'It was like I was re-opening old wounds all over again.'
  • ‘Hmm,’ Myung commented as she snuggled to come closer. ‘I see. Truth is, I don’t know if she’ll ever be ready and the more that we waited, the riskier it would have gotten,’ she added.
  • ‘I was scared she might run because of her brother or she’d be mad at us for keeping it a secret,’ I admitted. 'I know she hasn't been with us long, but she's part of Bangtan.'
  • Truth be told, I had already gotten used to her being around us. Sometimes, it’s not a matter of how long you’ve known a person, but the things you went through. All I knew was that Cherry or Hanuel had come into our lives and saved my wife and unborn child… twice. Then, when she had reasons to leave, she was kidnapped and given a choice and she still did not betray us. Instead, she stayed with us.
  • ‘I know Yeobo. Some might call me crazy, but I consider her my sister. I honestly don’t know, it’s difficult to figure some things out with her. She’s hard to predict but it's almost as if I don't mind,’ Myung said with a smile. I knew for a fact that Myung was fond of her from the moment they met.
  • ‘That definitely makes her special,’ I admitted. ‘I guess it’s part of being a Scarlet too,’ I said with a shrug and she nodded. Scarlets were known to be mysterious and secretive with plenty of tricks up their sleeves. It was part of the way they survived.
  • ‘Do you think they will ever get to see eye to eye? Do you think they’ll manage to make up for the years they have lost?’ Myung asked, sounding actually sad for them.
  • I thought back to these past three days. Yeonjun has constantly been chasing after her while she continued to push him away. She would ignore him or insult him. There had been even the occasion of her throwing a vase at him which is most likely the most I have ever seen her lose her cool. If the situation was not so sad, I would have found it funny because they were seriously acting like Tom and Jerry.
  • I sighed as I found myself wondering why she was putting so many barriers between them. Did she truly not want anything to do with him or was it a front? Did she have more reasons why she was acting this way? ‘I hope so. I can’t imagine being ripped away from Jin or Taehyung. I can’t imagine how hurt I would feel,’ I admit.
  • ‘Poor Yeonjun always thought that loan sharks took her because of his father’s debt but I don’t know what is worse. That or the fact that her own father gave her up to those monsters,’ she said.
  • ‘Their father was thinking of the best way to have all of his family survive. He did not know how to fight back so he did what he thought was best for all four of them,’ I said. ‘Still, I would rather be caught dead than have to be in that position. Can you imagine living with that guilt?’ I asked as I shuddered.
  • ‘I don’t even want to,’ Myung admitted. Her hand went to her belly as she caressed it. ‘Promise me we’ll never let anything happen to our baby boy,’ she said.
  • I smiled as I placed my hand on top of hers. ‘I promise Yeobo. Our son will be loved and protected,’ I said. ‘You know, I’ve been thinking,’ I began.
  • ‘Oh oh should I be scared?’ she asked, giggling a bit which caused me to roll my eyes.
  • ‘Whatever, I’m going to keep my mouth shut now,’ I said, teasing her.
  • ‘Oh come on Joonie! TELL ME,’ she said as she pinched my cheek.
  • ‘Fine! I can never say no to you! Well, we know we’re going to ask Jin to be the godfather of our son but we had not settled for godmother. What if we ask Cherry?’ I asked.
  • ‘I’d honestly like that very much yeobo,’ she said. ‘I can’t think of anyone better. Besides, she’s already saved him twice,’ she said with a bit of a smile.
  • ‘Then we’ll tell her in the morning,’ I said. ‘You should get some sleep,’ I said and she nodded as she cuddled closer.
  • Cherry
  • *The Next Morning*
  • I passed by the shooting range where I saw Yeonjun with his headphones on as he focused on the target. I stood by the door, leaning against it as I watched him.
  • He was a decent shot but there was room for improvement. Still, he had potential. I walked closer to Yeonjun and reached for his shoulder when he turned around, ready to hit me.
  • ‘YAH!’ I yelled as I blocked his arm and almost twisted it. His eyes went wide as he quickly removed his headphones.
  • ‘Noona! I’m so sorry, I didn’t see you there. I didn’t realize it was you,’ he said as I rolled my eyes at him.
  • ‘So what? You just hit the first person that comes at you?’ I asked and he smiled sheepishly. ‘Pabo,’ I whispered to myself as I shook my head.
  • ‘Only sometimes,’ he replied with a wink. ‘Did you come here to train?’ he asked and I shrugged.
  • ‘I was passing by and saw you shoot. Decided to stop by but can’t say I’m impressed,’ I said as I tried to sound nonchalant and he sighed.
  • ‘Yeah, I know. I don’t have the best aim. I’m better on the computer and gathering intel,’ he said with a shrug. I felt my heart skip a beat as he said that. Maybe we had another thing in common besides blood and belonging with Bangtan.
  • ‘Well, you can get better at this with practice,’ I said. ‘You just need to focus more,’ I said as I took his gun from his hand. I turn just slightly, raised the gun and pulled the trigger.
  • ‘WAH!’ he exclaimed as he quickly pressed the button that brought the paper closer. His eyes went wider as he stared in excitement. ‘Wah noona this is a bullseye,’ he said as he removed the paper and showed it to me. It was a perfect head shot.
  • ‘There is a difference between shooting targets here and the real world Yeonjun,’ I said in warning as I handed him the gun. ‘If you don’t want to end up dead, you need to be the best at what you do. Being good is not enough,’ I said.
  • ‘Would you care if I ended up dead?’ he asked. I gulped, feeling my body go slightly cold but I refused to answer. ‘I think you would, even if you hide it,’ he said as he turned back to the target.
  • ‘You don’t know me Yeonjun. Don’t pretend that you do,’ I said coldly. He sighed as he aimed towards the target. ‘Raise your arm,’ I said.
  • He turned to look at me and I rolled my eyes. I walked closer and adjusted his grip and aim. He turned back to the target and shot. It was a much better shot. I saw him smile and I sighed as I started to walk away.
  • I reached the door only to find Hoseok standing there, arms across his chest. He had a playful smirk on his face. ‘What?’ I asked as we both started walking away.
  • ‘Nothing. I just think that was a cute brother-sister bonding moment. That’s all,’ he said.
  • ‘Please. I was teaching him to shoot without getting shot,’ I said.
  • ‘Whatever helps you sleep at night princess,’ he said with a wink which only made me roll my eyes even more.
  • ‘Don’t call me that. You and I both know I am far from a princess,’ I said. We reached the stairs and climbed just as we came face to face with a panicked Taehyung.
  • ‘Tae? What’s wrong?’ Hoseok asked as Taehyung looked at us before he smiled.
  • ‘Nothing…well I mean, something but it’s not wrong,’ he said sounding agitated and excited. ‘Myung’s water just broke. Namjoon is taking her to his car and asking for us to join so we’d be at the hospital,’ Taehyung explained as the smile continued to grow on his face.
  • I knew Namjoon would want the boys there to share this moment with them. They were after all family. But, he also wanted us there for protection. We nodded as we both followed Taehyung out.
  • We've had some Namjoon-Myung moments - our power but cute couple. We've had some sibling bonding - even though she denies it. We've also had some Hoseok-Cherry moments where we see more teasing which is more playful. I might (might) have an interesting idea for the next bit which I think you might like hehe. I look forward to see what you think. - Tae's Misfit
